Types Of Water 101
Our bodies are made up of close to seventy percent water. Water is essential to every chemical reaction that takes place in the body. A human being can survive without food for a few months, but after twenty four hours without water, the body starts to suffer and in a few days, one can dehydrate and eventually die. Knowing the importance of water, it will also be helpful for each of us to know the different types of water. By then, we will be able to discern which type of water we should invest on and be worth your budget.
- Mineral water. This refers to the water that s bottled from a mineral spring or underground stream. This undergoes filtration to remove solid particles though minerals are retained. Mineral water, once opened can keep fresh for only a few days because it has not been chemically treated. Do not leave plastic bottles of water in a hot or warm place or in a direct sunlight. Warmth activates bacteria and corrosion.
- Spring, Natural or Purified. These may have been drawn from one or more sources including tap or surface water. These are possibly treated for harmful bacteria, chemicals, and minerals.
- Distilled Drinking Water. This type of water undergoes a three-stage process to make sure that what you drink is pure and safe. With the distillation process, all minerals are removed.
- Filtered Water. If bottled water is too costly for you, try filtering your tap water. A common device is an activated carbon filter which works by mopping up chemicals like pesticides and chlorine which pass through the filter.
- Tap water. This is the cheapest water you can drink unless you live next to a mountain spring. The level of goodness or toxicity of tap water depends on the presence of industrial and agricultural contaminants, the age and quality of water treatment plants, mains, and pipes.
